Installing your own garage door opener can be complicated and frustrating, but the daring individuals that take on that project successfully save themselves hundreds of dollars and enjoy the convenience and security that it provides. Most sets will include the garage opening device, the tracks, trails, chains, and the trolley, a keypad opening device, sensors, and remote button for your car, and all brackets, nuts, bolts, and screws necessary. You will need to bolt the three T rails together as well as the idler pulley to the end of the T rail closest to the garage gate. Then slide the trolley onto the track and bolt the end of the T rail track to the opening device. Attach the end of the drive belt to the trolley.

Then wrap the chain around the sprocket located on the opening device. Then attach the other end of the chain to the trolley. You will need to firmly mount the bracket included to the wall above the entrance. Make sure that it gives the entrance two inches of clearance when it is opening. Then raise the opener unit and open the door.

Prop the opener unit on something like a ladder so that it is one and a half inches above the open door. Attach the steel brackets that are included to the ceiling joists centered with your gate. Bolt the opener unit to the steel bracket. Now it is time to install the inside push button control device to the wall where ever you would like. Most install it next to the gate that enters the house. You will need to run wiring to the opening unit.

Install the electric sensor near the ground on the wall of the entrance. If you have an outside wireless keypad, install it now or at the end of the whole procedure. Finally you will want to attach the gate to the opening system. To do this you will need to bolt a door bracket to the garage gate. Attach the straight arm to the trolley and the curved arm to the door bracket and then bolt the two arms together. Make sure the opening system unit it is plugged into an outlet, cross your fingers, and test it out.

DJ Newbie - Should You Do DIY Speakers Stands Or Buy New DJ Speaker Stands

When you are just starting as a budding DJ newbie and are getting the necessary music and equipment put together, you may come across the idea that you need to place your DJ speakers on stands. So you are wondering if DIY speakers stands are a good idea or whether you should buy DJ speaker stands.

To make this decision whether to build audio stands easier on you, we'll go over some of the basic requirements for a useful DJ audio stand. The requirements are - the audio stand should help the speaker project the sound throughout the venue space, the audio stand should prevent the sound distortion and loss, and a DJ loudspeaker stand should be sturdy yet portable. In addition, if you can get audio stands cheap and fulfilling all of the criteria, why DIY?

These are the requirements for building quality audio stands that will be functional and that you can be proud of:

The speaker stands should help the speaker project and carry the sound

This is the first and the most important requirement. The sound projection depends on two factors: Sound absorption, and clear sound path. To enable a clear path for the sound, the speaker audio stands must help project the sound over and above the audience. At the same time, the sound should not be directed into the audience, to reduce sound absorption.

Bottom line, the DJ stands need to be adjustable height and their best height is at the ear level or slightly higher. Depending on the venue and whether the audience is sitting, standing, or both, you need to make your stands adjustable anywhere between 4' and 6' in height.

The audio stand should prevent the sound distortion and loss

Be sure to tighten the screw to prevent any rattling or other sound distortions. The sound loss is minimized by using the smallest possible connection between the speaker and the speaker sound. So if your speaker weight allows it, go with the smallest possible standard socket size.

The DJ audio stand should be sturdy and portable

This is where the material used comes to play a big role in building DJ audio stands or PA speaker stands. If you thought you can get away with a wood speaker stands construction, think again. With wood, you will never be able to achieve the low weight-high impact resistance that an aluminum or steel speaker stand offers. But with either an aluminum or stainless steel construction you can create a sturdy yet lightweight stand that is easily transported in a car or van.

The AS2S is a bi-shelf cable management system. It can be used with or without a Plasma/LCD mount. This unit is designed to fit under your display and provide an on wall solution for other components such as cable boxes, DVD players, game consoles, and stereo components. There are three 2 1/4-Inch holes on the aluminum plate. These holes allow you to cleanly run your cables up to your TV or down to another component, as well as out the bottom to an outlet. In most cases the wall stud is placed to the right or to the left of the display, which is not where most people prefer to have their shelves mounted. This is still the most secure option however, after significant research we’ve found that using the correct toggle bolts can allow you to mount your shelving unit wherever you see fit. With the combination of four of these toggle bolts, the shelving unit is able to hold well over 70LBS safely. Each individual toggle bolt provides 75lbs of support. Please note a good toggle bolt is still only as good as the quality of the drywall it is mounted to. If you have water damage or ¼-Inch drywall please add a support for your shelving unit.

It used to be that contractors would hang their phone lines and cable off anything including ceiling grid, pipe, sprinklers, anything they could get a zip tie on. Fortunately, codes eventually put an end to that practice and most contractors are using some form of data cable hanger.

One data cable hanger that is gaining popularity very fast is the new strap type hangers. Arlington Industries makes a product called the Loop that is a plenum rated loop that has a closure keeping the cable in check. These hangers have a built in mounting block that makes them easy to mount to the wall, ceiling, threaded rod or to a mounting bracket.

As with the metal j hooks, the Arlington Loop is available with a variety of configurations saving time on the job. One of the biggest advantage of this type of hanger is cost, usually running about half the cost of bridle rings and metal j hook data cable hangers.

What is Corrugated Plastic?

Corrugated plastic also known as coro-plast is very similar to corrugated cardboard except it is constructed of plastic. It usually consists of two layers of plastic sandwiching a section of corrugation (Square Structural tubes). These tubes are their to add strength to a very light weight substrate. However the corrugations (tubes) are also used to attach corrugated sign blanks to a variety of stands and brackets.

It is designed to be a light weight yet some what rigid substrate. It is a very common choice for sign makers and end users alike. The benefit of having a light weight yet durable product is obvious. However we will discuss a few of the major benefits. The first one is transport. Large or small; many or few the light weight of corrugated plastic is a huge plus when transporting your signs. You can ship hundreds of corrugated signs at a very low cost. This is not possible with aluminum and other heavier sign substrates. Handling small quantities of corrugated plastic signs on a local level is also much easier than other heavy and more bulky forms of signage.

It is a very versatile product. You can use it indoors or out. It comes in many colors and can be cut to many different shapes. You can create triangle shaped table top signs easily by cutting just one side of the plastic, and folding the corrugated plastic into a triangle. You can order your sign blanks cut to shape. For example if you are ordering a sign for a real-estate business you can order your sign to be shaped like a house. For sporting events you can order it shaped like a baseball bat or a football. This is done in expensively and can still be mounted to the numerous sign stands available for corrugated plastic.

You can mount it to a wall with tape or Velcro. You can hang your corrugated plastic sign from a ceiling, Mount it to a fence or connect it to a sign stand.

It is available in many sizes and colors. You can order most all colors in a four foot by eight foot size. In some cases you can order even bigger sizes. I must warn you that the bigger the sign gets the less rigid it will be. I would not consider using full sheets of corrugated plastic for a sign unless I was mounting it to something rigid like a wall or a sheet of plywood. Overall for small sized signs it is tough to beat the versatility of a corrugated plastic sign.
