If you go too fast, the stud finder might not be able to beep immediately. Also, the stud finder should be on top of the nail or close to them in order to detect the nail. You should go through the effort of finding the studs because you will need them to screw your TV wall mount securely. The studs will help you determine the most appropriate place on the wall for you TV wall brackets. Keep in mind the comfort and ease of viewing the screen when you decide on the ideal spot on the wall for the TV bracket.
After considering the studs, your viewing comfort and the ideal spot, you can establish the type of TV mount you will use for your LCD TV. Since there are a lot of models and types of TV wall brackets in the market, it is easier doing that task at the end. The most critical is establishing the location of the studs since that will be the main support for your TV mounts, and the best way of accomplishing that is through the stud finders. There are multifunction stud finders that can help you find not only studs but also pipes and wiring behind the drywall. This is critical so you don't accidentally cut into the pipes and wiring when you install your TV wall mount. Use the stud finders effectively and you will have an easier time installing the wall brackets.
